1. What is your role in the RI healthcare community?

I have been in practice as a neurologist for over 30 years.

 

2. What do you love about your job?

Helping people to help themselves and showing them how taking small steps then larger steps can lead to better health.

 

3. What is the biggest challenge that you face when providing care to your patient population?

Lack of time—facilitating patient autonomy (I.e., patient education) takes time.

 

4. What are some healthcare barriers that your non-English speaking patients face?

There are aspects of communication that even the best translator cannot convey timely.

 

5. If you could make one change to the RI healthcare system, what would it be?

Enhance primary care and preventive medicine to improve population health.
